After a contested first half on Overpass, Liquid kicked into a higher gear to win their first ESL Pro League S11 series 2-0 over MIBR (16-7 Overpass, 16-2 Dust2).
The North American powerhouse confirmed their dominance over MIBR with a strong performance in EPL. Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's men were causing issues on the offensive side of Overpass, taking a 7-5 lead at one point, but Liquid then went on a tear and won 27 of the following 29 round across the two maps, claiming the series 2-0.
MIBR picked up the first three rounds on the Terrorist side of their map pick, Overpass, however, their early success was met by a five-round streak from Liquid who thwarted the offenses with rifles. Epitacio "TACO" de Melo finally broke through with two kills on the B site, giving MIBR their fourth, which they followed up thanks to a crucial Ignacio "meyern" Meyer double (7-5). Keith "NAF" Markovic and Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski then stepped up to claim a mixed-buy round win and recovered before the end of the half, 8-7.
After the switch, Liquid gave almost no chance to MIBR, kicking it off with a pistol round win and claiming round after round. EliGE was leading the way on the offense, posting 13K-3D on the T side as the North American side won eight rounds in the row to claim Overpass, 16-7.
Jake "Stewie2K" Yip's 1v1 clutch on the B bombsite saw Liquid start Dust2 the same way they ended Overpass - with a strong T side. Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken closed out the round that made the score 6-0 for Liquid, but the Brazilians finally managed to get on the board after getting the double AWP out. They were looking to add another to their tally in the followup as Liquid found themselves in a 2v5, but another clutch went the way of the North Americans as NAF secured a 1v3.
Liquid powered on to an impressive, 13-2 Terrorist half on Dust2 before Twistzz and NAF combined on the pistol to secure the retake. FalleN's 1v3 clutch attempt in the following force-buy was then thwarted, leading to a quick conclusion of the map, 16-2.
